I was doing some API calls earlier, no more than a query every couple minutes, but then I couldn't login to my subdomain. Maybe the platform is undergoing maintenance or has crashed?

Which version of Metabase?
Check the log (since I don’t know how you’re hosting Metabase, I cannot point to where the logs are)
My first guess is that you are running out of RAM, which has crashed Java (which Metabase runs in).
