Non Field Type Filters not getting applied on dashboard

I wish to apply a date filter (not as a field filter) in my dashboard where I just select the date. The filter is visible when I am seeing the dashboard, however I am unable to link the date variable to a filter in a dashboard.

Is it not possible to link a non field filter in a dashboard?

You can only use Single Date on the dashboard, if you’re using a simple Date filter type.
