Admin user receives "Sorry, you don't have permission to see that" when saving an existing dashboard

Hello everyone,

I am facing an issue in my self-hosted Metabase instance.

I am logged in as an Administrator and can access the dashboard without any problems. However, when I try to save changes to an existing dashboard, I receive the following message:

"Sorry, you don't have permission to see that."

A few additional details:

  • I am using an admin account.

  • The dashboard already exists and opens correctly.

  • The error occurs only when attempting to save changes to the dashboard.

  • I have verified that my user has administrator privileges.

Could anyone suggest possible causes or troubleshooting steps? Has anyone encountered a similar issue related to dashboard permissions, collection permissions, or reverse proxy/WAF configurations?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is commonly caused by a WAF not liking something about your question and blocking it. Look at the logs for any firewall in use and try relaxing any rules that are tripping when you are saving your question.
