All metadata is reset for a question saved as a model

  1. I have created a custom model from an sql query.
  2. I edit and save the metadata.
  3. Later, I add a new column to the custom model with additional sql statements.
  4. The metadata is all erased.

This has happened 3 times and I don't understand why. I can not ever add more columns to a model without resetting the metadata?
