Dashboard filter not working on all of question's columns

Hi,

I have a bar chart based on a custom table that I built using SQL and which I saved as a question. The bar chart looks fine but I have a problem with the dashboard filter which I would like to connect to that bar chart. For that particular bar chart filters only seem to work for columns containing dates and booleans. Columns containing strings and numbers don’t appear in the drop-down list of columns which can be filtered.

Any idea what causes this ?
