I have created a model where column country is in text format. The problem is that, when I tried applying filter on it, it doesn’t pop up values in the drop down menu.

Unless you have mapped the Model column, then it won't know which field it should show a dropdown for. Have a look here: Dashboard Filter not working as expected
Filter not working - for question created from the model
Did the mapping of the "country" - field in model as "category" - column type.
Then created a question from the model - with country and date column and prepared a report for it
Added the report to the dashboard and chose the Text/category->dropdown as filter type
Still the filter is not working and country field is not visible when I make the filter selection.
