Hi, I tend to avoid using pivot tables in Metabase in general as they're notoriously slow but right now I'm seeing extremely poor performance even with just 1 or 2 dimensions and 1 metric.
The database is responding instantly and if I visualise as a straight table it returns on avg 3 seconds.
Right now I am getting times of 45s+ for a pivot table on 0.51.2 so I can't use pivots in any of my dashboards.
From what I can tell, most of that time is spent on the browser rendering the visualisation.
Is this just me or are other seeing the same?
As I say, it's been a poor performing visual for as far as I can remember but it seems to have gotten worse recently.
Pivots are slow and the slow performance is creating a barrier for getting new users on board.
We would like getting some more Excel users to use MB instead, but the users want pivot tables.
And it's a shame as pivot table creation in Metabase is fairly intuitive
I couldnt agree more. Im having to build out x5 sets of visuals to accommodate not using a pivot table.
This is possibly the sole reason (or at least one of the biggest reasons) I am not at this stage going to invest in the Enterprise version of the product to roll out to 400+ users in my company.
The other is the lack of a fiscal calendar. If both are sorted I will be looking to invest in the fully paid version.
I'll be happy to share access to our Metabase instance, so you can dive as deep as you could. Unfortunately, I can't share a video here publicly as the dashboard contains sensitive data.
Please let me know how I can assist in the troubleshooting.
