How to update Metabase DB while preserving user/permission in target DB?

Hi

any idea/experience how to update a target Metabase DB with a new version developed locally but preserving the defined users and their permissions settings in the target DB (e.g. production)?

Would like to ask here before deep diving into experimenting by omitting the tables core_user, permissions, etc. tables while uploading updated Metabase DB.

If you’re using serialization then write to the support email. The only way to do this is via a backup and restore as permissions are not preserved in serialization dump and load

Thanks for the tip. I looked into Serialization and this dump/load feature supposed to be supported only in the enterprise version but I can try to run it in the open source version - and I'll keep this thread updated.
