Login with username

The Metabase login page prompts for "Username or email address". However I don't see anywhere, in Account Settings or Admin Panel, to add a username.
Is there any way to login without an email address?
Or is "username" just referring to when SSO is configured or something?

@Bungle It is because you have configured LDAP, which might support usernames, but Metabase does not know what your LDAP allows.
