What is the maximum number of user groups that metabase can support? We’re planning on using metabase in a way where there could potentially be many user groups created (maybe up to 50) and want know if/ when a limit will be hit.

There’s no limit. Only database column size stuff, but that should be easy to modify if you hit those.
You shouldn’t have any problems, but I would recommend that you try. I know of several other instances that close to similar amount of groups. It will become a little difficult to edit via the UI, but I’m guessing you might be managing it through the API with a script.
