Metabase operates on real-time data; it queries your database any time you view a question. Caching features are available if you need to manage database load. Superset works in the same way. Compare to PowerBI or Tableau where the default mode uses a pre-transformed extract as the data source.

No, Metabase is not a page-layout engine. Printing capabilities are limited to what your browser is capable of (and most aren’t that capable).

Translations are supported for modular embedded components in the paid versions. Or you can create separate questions/dashboards per-language.

I’m not aware of any direct conversions from Looker’s definition language to Metabase.
