Problem renaming widgets placed on dashboard, when those can not load without filter

Hello,

So I noticed this issue which is new-ish since the new way to change visualisations of dashboard widgets. The new way requires to click visualize another way. It is via that menu where to edit the title of the widget.

The problem is that when entering the this menu, it is only possible to make & save edits if the questions has fully loaded and displayed a preview.

We have questions that do not load when no organization (company name) filter is applied because those the database times out. (This is why on the dashboard, the organization name filter is mandatory.)

When editing the visualisation, the question is trying to load without filter and therefore it times out. Since there is no data returned, its impossible to change the visualisation (that I understand) but its also impossible to change & save the title.

Even after editing the title, the Save button is greyed out.

With that, its seems the only way is to rename the source question itself. This is so impractical that its hard to believe. Am I missing something here in editing widget titles?

Using the dash card viz editor on questions that require filtering is a problem in general, not just for editing the title.

The workaround is to attach a filter/variable to the question that limits it to something reasonable, make the viz edits, then remove the filter/variable (you can revert the question using the history tab in Info).

I think there is a GitHub bug filed on the viz editor not applying the current filters.

Hey @dwhitemv

Alright I see the workaround.
Thanks. I do hop the bug gets fixed soon.

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.
