Pretty much the title.
E.g: I have a question called Qstn1, it's located in one group collection, called Grp1, but also in Users' Personal Collections: User1, User2, User3. When searching for the Qstn1, the search result returns only for Grp1, but when clicking on "View and filter all XXX results", it shows results from User1, User2 and User3 as well.
Makes the search functionality rather useless. Also, IF the question I'm looking for exists only among Users' Personal Collections and not in any Group Collection, then the search doesn't return any results.
Additionally, search doesn't find any Personal User's Collection.
Running on Metabase 0.55.5. Am administrator.
Any advice?
I don't have the full context behind this decision, but this seems to be intentional. When searching from the command palette (or clicking the Search button, which does the same thing), we explicitly exclude others' personal collections. I can speculate this is to only show the most relevant search results, especially in instances with many users.
The only way to search including personal collections that I've found is to manually browse to /search?q=<your_query>
, or to click "View and filter all results" from the search results as you've already noticed.
Personal collections are, well, personal, and not intended to be shared with others. As an admin, you can browse to "Other users' personal collections" in the sidebar, if you need to inspect a particular user's personal collection. Is searching across personal collections a typical case for you, or did you have a particular goal in mind?
